Modern CEO is a giver in many ways, because his personal outlook in life is that money is not everything, and ‘HAPPINESS derived from seeing other people happy!’ Wow! What a pretty outlook in life! Now for the rest of us to have this outlook as an integral part of our lives, we need to “afford” it too. Simply because if we have such an outlook but not afford to bring to life, it will just remain a theory. But for Dato’ Michael, it is an outlook and part of his living since his young age.
The Entrepreneur gene in him, started him with a business that made him a lucrative income while he was still pursuing his degree in UK. He traded luxury cars. He exported his first car at age 18. As with most undergraduates leaving home to pursue higher education abroad, Michael was given £600 by his parents to accompany him in his voyage. However, when Mummy came visited young Michael the following year, he proudly returned the sum to her and announced that he was earning himself a lucrative income!
Yes, he started young! Both his entrepreneurial activities as well as his principle in delighting others through his affordability.
Dato’ Michael believes in investing in his organization especially his people. And the word is simply GENEROUS. For example, the PKT management trips are not only luxurious but always an adventure and a class of its own. Their latest trip in Kenya and Tanzania “Chasing After The Great Migration” was a special route hitting places you almost never get to experience and a trip perhaps possible if you’re working for National Geography. PKT has many activities sponsored by Dato’ Michael with the same outlook.
This big hearted CEO also plans and provides annual trip to his family clan of more than twenty individuals. To me as a Lifestyle Estate Planner, he is a true reflection of a positive High Net Worth individual and Entrepreneur.

His Inspiration is to strive the way to be different, INNOVATION. If someone else has done it before, then it is not new! This same advice is given to all his staff in the management and execution of their roles.
His approach to branding is the MILO VAN theory. Remember the days of old when we used to have MILO VAN coming to schools and offer each kid a cup of nice cold Milo. As each kid enjoyed the Milo drink, it is indirectly endorsing the MILO brand into their young minds. It worked well making MILO a clear choice of chocolate beverage to almost every kid. How interesting! Dato’ Michael has the same philosophy in making PKT known to the younger generation with a PKT tour and experience.
As we explored a little into his history, Daddy was both Dato’ Michael’s inspiration and naysayer. Dad started PKT and as an Entrepreneur planted seeds of imagination and visions to be an entrepreneur in the then young Michael.
As we all knew, Michael already had a lucrative business of his own while pursuing his education abroad.
However, his life calling came and pursued Michael to be an Entrepreneur. Michael came back from overseas to succeed PKT. Daddy who was used to his own safe and sure ways similar to most local business people, found it hard to accept his son’s modern, innovative and daring endeavors. However, as in most SUCCESS stories, Dato’ Michael cleverly persevered and proved not only to his beloved Dad but to the society at large, that it paid off abundantly to be BOLD and inspired with modern innovations. Today, Dato’ Micheal Tio is the leading inspiration and Modern CEO whom many look up to.
